TEACHING ARTIST

Education and the sharing of skills has always been a natural passion in my life. I began tutoring math from the fourth grade inadvertently by helping my class mates understand basic math problems all the way through high school.  My passion for teaching and leadership became most evident when I started to lead rock bands in my teenage years organizing rehearsals and spontaneous arrangements of original songs and pop tunes. During my last year at Lehman College I started to share my skills and to mentor young people through music in New York City.

PRIVATE LESSONS

Weather it is guitar, piano, or technology, I see each lesson as a mini "Work of Art". I love transmitting my experience and knowledge one on one. The greatest reward is to witness my students grow and unfold.

GROUP CLASSES / WORKSHOPS

In my personal philosophy, the classroom is a dynamic ecosystem alive, each student brings knoledge and experience valuable to all involved and my job includes tapping into this knowledge and guiding the process. This is my approach to learn Music Performance (Band), Music Theory, Guitar Ensemble, Keyboard Techniques, etc.

PAST EDUCATIONAL PROJECTS

Music Director

(Summer Boost 2024) Public Prep NYC

As the Theather Music Director for the Public Prep Summer Boost 2024 I taught vocal technique, helped develop a performance repertoire, and accompanied and directed the music aspect in a final showcase. It was a very beautiful experience to work with other teachers and witness the scholar's development in a rich and artful class environment.

DIGITAL STEWARDS

I have had the opportunity to teach, organize, and lead a dynamic group of young adults and teens to explore Community Networking and become the first response team that will manage, monitor, and repair our FHPWF network in case of a natural disasters or normal days network failures.

MEN & MUSIC

I ran this program at The Point for three consecutive years leading, teaching and mentoring a dynamic group of teenagers through music to discover their own talents in songwriting, studio recording, and live performance while creating a support group to help them overcome the challenges of growing up the in Hunts Point area of The Bronx.

PORTABLE NETWORK KIT

The Portable Network Kit is the seed of community networks and our most engaging tool to teach, demistify, and understand network technology. I was part of this initiative in NYC and organized and helped run several workshops to help folks run their own local community networks.

SYEP 2014-2015

One of the most challenging yet rewarding experiences in my Music Teaching / Youth Leading career was SYEP because in the span of 6 weeks we had to help aculturate, lead into comuntity work / stewardship, and (in my case) teach music from zero to performance level to a goup of teens from all over NYC. The work was intense but the results and experience of group cohesion and success was always worth it.

TEEN SONGWRITING & STUDIO CLASS

MELODICA ENSEMBLE

OASYS AFTERSCHOOL 2014

BAND CLASS

The school year of 2014 - 2015 I launched "The Point Academy of Production and Ensemble" where we learned the basics of Studio Recording, Songwriting 101, and collaborative arrangement. The Academy involved douzens of teens, and all the music it produced was youth written, recorded, and produced (a total of 3 albums) and performed several showcases during its 3 years life.
